Bought the black one today.
Great product.
It is. Got mine yesterday. It looks fab, but above all it sounds like my old ( and broken) shuffle. And that's good. No, it's excellent.

I hope this is true!!!
How is Sony's track record with sensors though?
Let's go Fall! (Not even WWDC ;))
They make all of Nikons sensors, even the high end D3S and D3X dSLRs ones. They also made (or make?) Canon point and shoot sensors; at least as of a few years ago. Sony was one of the first with backlit CMOS as well.
Oh, and I think Pentax, if you want to consider them a camera compay, uses Sony sensors.

Toys R Us...Apple is SERIOUS about positioning the iPad for gaming and entertainment...maybe even education. I can see an iPad waterproof enclosure in the near future.

I think you can control when the data gets backed up, and it would be good if you could delete versions after a certain time. They must have the scenarios worked out, otherwise for my 40GB iBook HD and 80GB LaCie external drive, I'd need about a TB * to be able to go back in time for the year of changes.

It's called a World Wide Developers Conference for a reason. It's not New Apple Hardware Announcements Conference. Get over it.
Wait a Second! "Apple Hardware Announcements Conference". Brilliant Apple can charge $1500 for people to come and watch Apple announce new hardware. Of course at that cost the hardware they announce would not be included.
Some how I doubt that many people would pay that much.

i have not pirated any music except for the beattles since itunes came out... if you dont give consumers what they want, they will find a way to get it...
Because it's so hard to find Beatles CDs in stores or on Amazon, our only choice is to pirate them...

The iPhone 5 will not be released until 2012. The next iPhone will be called the iPhone 4G.
Until then, any self-respecting journalist should refer to it as "the fifth-generation iPhone."
And your rock solid PROOF that the iPhone 5 will not be released till 2012 is what?

If I could replace my iPod classic with a 120GB iPod Touch I would do it in a heartbeat. To me the only think the classic has on the touch is storage size. In every other way the Touch is much better.
Not everyone likes the touchscreens. I would buy a 200GB classic tomorrow. Not everyone wants iOS and apps and games and all that crap on an MP4 player. i know i don't. the iPod touch should go. they already have an iPhone, i want to listen to music with the occasional video on the bus. and with physical buttons i can change the song with the thing in my pocket. I like the UI and the clickwheel. call me old if you like but im 17.

I don't think I've seen anyone else mention it but Amazon lists a release date:
"This item will be released on January 30, 2007. Pre-order now. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com."
Now, I KNOW that date is likely to get changed, but interesting anyway.
Second, has anyone else here used the public beta? I haven't seen any comments on it in the first 3 pages, but let me tell you...it sucks! I had to take it off my PC that I am using until my MacPro arrives and went back to XP.
From my experience, Vista Beta is full of bugs and issues. Yes, I know it is still a Beta, but if it is slated for a Jan 30 release, they have a lot of work to do.
I still don't know why the average person would change from XP to Vista--it doesn't look that different and doesn't offer much more to the average websurfer/emailer.
Just my $0.02. I'm glad I made the switch back to Mac after a 10 year absence.

eInk sounds interesting for B&W eBook readers and the like, less so if you want a Video iPod as well, at least at this stage.
The One Laptop Per Child project is using a display that's full color but has a 1-bit mode that uses no or very little power when it's in its 'off mode'. I'm not sure what technology they're using but we do know that Steve Jobs and Nicholas Negroponte have talked last year when Jobs offered OSX for the olpc.
But wind energy is, so one ipod versus piles of books, we could finally stop all this senseless logging.
Good, we can burn those logs for electricity. Carbon net-neutral for a short period of time, unlike coal or oil.
Engadget believes that Apple would also launch electronic book sales via iTunes as well to provide content for this new iPod functionality.
Why would Apple go about doing all this work when Steve Jobs's friend Jeff Bezos has been spending the past several years scanning all of his inventory for the 'Look Inside' feature? And they cover just about every book on Earth. And they've been in the default Safari bookmarks for years. Etc.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of the technology personally. It's FACTUALLY an integrated part of the web these days. It needs support on iPhone. Period.

Why such a great camera on the iphone and such loser ones on the ipad?
Because no one wants to take pictures with the iPad. I want to list all the situations where the iPhone would be much more accessible and easier to take pictures with...but that would be a huge waste of my time. It's pretty obvious.
I would be slightly worried about jailbreaking an iPhone 5 then. Sony might claim ownership of the damn thing and sue you for doing so.
This made me chuckle. Nice dude.

Apple needs to pull its head out on this one.
Flash eats battery! Ok, and? So does fieldrunners. Guess what? I can decide if I want to spend the power playing it!
Flash is full of archaic crap. Well dang. The web is full of archaic crap. Including a lot of flash. But it's still the web, and I still need to access it.
Flash isn't necessary, you can use Java, Wookie, etc... whatever. Ok, sure, I'll just write every website I need to visit to find my travel reservations and itinerary, and have them rewrite their page in a new format.
This stupid tug of war leaves the end users in the lurch. Adobe, clean up flash, Apple, encourage them and accept that it ain't gonna be perfect.
I couldn't agree more!:)

Fake. Apple "ordered" a company to send all its manuscripts to it?
Companies don't "order" each other around....that wouldn't get very far in the business world.
Obviously they are paying them to do it. I order McDonald's around every time I walk in there and order them to make me a McFlurry. I order Rubio's to make me a 99 cent fish taco. I order myself to shut up now or this could go on for hours:)

It's a shame the scenario played out this way. Joe's Facebook app is brilliantly crafted, easily the best (imperfections and all).
But I'm disappointed that he's thrown his arms up and decided to give up. To me, this is akin to the weak willed who threaten to leave the US when a regime philosophically detestable to them come into power. So you'd rather run away with your tail between your legs than stick around and strong arm your commanders into a compromise?
Hewitt, if Facebook had the cojones to support him, could have been the spark in the room of dynamite Cocoa Touch developers needed to convey to Apple that their review process has got to dematerialize. Or, at the very least, turn the austerity knob down from "11". The Facebook app is high profile and an 800lb gorilla. That's leverage to be used.
But Hewitt has his own agenda, and Zuckerburg's too busy picking his toe cheese to care, apparently.

I respect the fact that he and any developer can do what ever they wish, and move on to do other things, but to use the review process as your excuse is lame. Sure, everyone knows and agrees it's a bit harsh of a process, but he's leaving exactly why? Because it's a 2 week wait for approval? Because Apple polices content to make sure it won't hinder performance on the device? The developers all know the rules, and not much has changed from day one. I understand frustration, but this is a bit extreme to prove a point. There are better ways to go about it.
Just my opinion...
I think he did a great job on the app, and I'm disappointed he's walking away from it.

Wait a second. They use a 3rd party wireless card, and he said in the end that "the flaw is not in the Apple operating system as we used 3rd party hardware". I'd say that's quite different from the impression I got from reading the macrumors headline here. A default MacBook using the built in Airport isn't vulnerable as far as I can tell.
Yeah, I'm curious about that too. I have to admit, I didn't even know you could use a third party wireless card with a Mac. It does seem kind of misleading, cause I just can't imagine how many people are even out there with MacBooks that are using this third party wireless card.
Is this at least a driver that is built into OS X anyway, or is it something you would also have to install along with the third party wireless card?
It does seem pretty misleading to me, because I think the way this story is being presented is that Apple is basically shipping MacBooks that could be exploited right out of the box, and that doesn't sound like it's actually the case.

"Why would I make Apple the best camera?"
Because you want to sell 20 million units with no marketing risk, minimal inventory cost, large prepayments from the customer, and unusual engineering support from the customer.
yeah I don't understand what is so ironic about that when for years Sony has been supplying camera sensors to all the competitors including Nikon, Canon, Pentax, etc (I am talking about the whole camera sector not just DSLR) and Sony buys their components from competitors such as Samsung.

Poorly phrased comments lead to meaningless debate.
Comments about not wanting 3D in the ipad of course lead to the obvious response of those who disagree: "don't use it".
People expressing a desire that the ipad remain 3D free are probably hoping that 3D will be optional if it is added. I don't want 3D myself. But if others want 3D then I hope they get the option. But I do not want to pay extra for a feature I won't use. So if it comes to higher prices and I just "turn it off" then of course from my perspective I hope 3D is not implemented. But the better option would be the option of 3D and non-3D models.
