I guess the last two quarters April-June, July-September should see huge jumps as vdlrao suggested. Any unused numbers from ROW and EB-1 categories should start flowing towards the EB-2 Chindia. This would be time when Chindia's EB-2 will have the same processing dates. I can't wait for it to reach December 2005.

AP Filed/Reciept date: June 1, 2010
Created an SR request : ~ September 20, just got standard email saying Intial Review is still in progress.
We have an Info-pass appointment tomorrow. We chose the 45 day not response option. Not sure if that is ok when we get there.
Is there anything else I need to know before I meet a rep during the Infopass appointment.
We plan to take all relevant documents, along with a copy of email from a conference in Canada where my wife is invited.
Any input will be great.

Thank you for all your input. Again, I got my GC on the first week of July and my wife was applied for 485 last July 30. Whether to leave my present employer or not has become a big question as my employer has decided to transfer me to another location in less than a month's notice which showed lack of consideration to the welfare of their employees as they're not only doing this to one person but a lot others too.
My greatest concern now is if leaving my employer would have an implication on my wife's pending AOS.
Thank you for all the pieces of advice you're giving.
I do know recently where a person who got married before his greencard approval and filed his wife's case. He got approved but then three months after his approval; his wife has been sent to local office interview. I'll let you know what the outcome of that will be.
Another person was on F-1 and went straight to greencard through Schedule A. he got married after he filed for 485. Since he didn't have any non immigrant status; he could not bring his wife here. She had to do follow to join and chennai consulate asked all sorts of questions. Tax returns, w2's, letter from employer; when he joined and when he left.
Think of it this way; were you travelling before greencard with same employer? If you were then what would have changed that all of a sudden you don't like it. It would be a more plausible excuse if you didn't travel at all before and they started to make you do it after greencard approval.

We have seen that for every bill which gets a chance to be presented, there is a heated debate and some compromises arrived at if the bill gets a chance to move further. I am concerned that if this bill goes the same route, the compromise would be to drop the employment part of the same.
I agree with Pappu that we need to meet lawmakers and would like to add that our agenda should be to ensure that the employment based Visa Recapture remains in the agenda.

Whenever an attempt to increase visa numbers is made a budget point of order can usually be made. So, you will need 60 votes to amend the law.

Not really. Senators voted against this because they opposed the underlying amendment. The Democratic opposition stems from the facts that the amendment proposed to re-capture from all categories and then re-distribute accordingly to a Republican preference. For instance EB-3, numbers re-captured didn't all go to EB-3. The amendment gave 61,000 to Schedule A and then re-distributed the rest equally.
A much fairer, simpler and permanent solution is to simply rollover the unused numbers to next years numbers.
I believe there is around 300,000 unused visas from previous years. Even if 61,000 visas are gone to Schedule A, we would have got the remaining 240,000 visas. Imagine they are not even ready to pass the amendment which gives relief to Schedule A(extremely shortage workers) as well as employment catagories, think about the chances if the amendment stands only for employment catagories.

so can I just ask ... is IV planning any campaigns at all in the near future (i.e. in the next 2-3 months) ?

At this time we have request for interview from over 7 highly reputable media outlets including NPR Marketplace, NY Times, LA Times, AP. We have asked members to interview if they feel anxious about the current state of the affairs. Can you guess how may responses we have recd till now? Is this not part of the effort/campaign? There are few members who will spend whole day discussing sending pizza or fight over tracker data. But we struggle to find sincere members who are ready to interview with the top media outlets. This indicates to us, either everybody is extremely comfortable with wherever we are and no one is feeling the pain, or just 2-3 of us feel the anxiety due the economic slow-down. If over 30 members can discuss for a period of 3-4 days about sending pizza, and the objective is to attract attention for our provisions, then is it not possible to achieve the same with the available media opportunities. Getting media opportunities is a difficult job. And its extremely frustrating to see lukewarm response to the action items and request for help from the members. Please understand that there are many aspects of our advocacy effort. We may be focusing on a specific aspect at a particular time, and its possible that you want us to work on something else. It doesn't mean that we are not working on a specific campaign right now. So I am baffled by your question of doing a campaign in next 2-3 months.
It is possible that next month we may see new bill from Sen. Grassley and we may have to re-adjust our effort to respond to such a bill. Political events are not predictable, but we have to respond to every developing situation. We are always very sincere in the community effort, so I request to please support the effort, even if you do not agree with it 100%. And please participate in the action items, because they are always part of planned activity and is not an abrupt absurd idea.
Campaigns are not based on a specific provisions, even when everyone of us sees it in that light. Provisions are the end product of every campaign. But to achieve our provisions, there is a long drawn process, which includes multiple stages. I am not able to list all the stages in a single post. But I will encourage you to see this document -

2. What are the possible chances that visa officer may not let me into the USA?
3. Do I need to carry any letters from my criminal attorney explaining the situation?

Then there will always be people like Lou Dobbs who will say that "potential immigrants will get points only if they make 240K a year and are 25 years of age". btw, for starters, what've you achieved? if the answer is nothing.... then learn to appreciate others.... maybe that might help to be humbled at the effort and genius of 10 yr old.....

Unless US starts skilled immigration, it is destined to become a 3rd world country. China would overtake it as the largest economy.
It is estimated that in about 20-30 years the worker:retiree ratio would be 2:1, thereby having a large tax on the employed.

I'm not sure about the usefulness of this poll? If you look at the percentage of people applied on 2nd July, it is close to 70%. Assuming some error in the polling percentage, this poll indicates that atleast 50% of people have appplied already on 2nd July. As per the press reports, USCIS has received around 55000 applications on 18th July. That means another 55000 people only are going to apply by 17th Aug making a total of 110,000 plus minus 20,000. Obviously those polls are not going to get you anywhere.
its a waste of time and effort to come up with numbers because nobody will ever be able to come up with the right numbers including USCIS. So whats the point. Just have a kingfisher and chill. Please close this thread

All arguments are very sensible. No doubt about it. am working on an EAD and they did not incur any legal cost. However, I get frustrated thinking why they charge $180 per hour to the client.... even when the cost to company for me is about $110K per annum or around $60 per hour. I do not know whether I am worth $180 per hour or not....but probably more than $60/hr since they can charge $180 / hr
We really need to analyze this deeply if we want to come up with a strategy....

It is not how much they charge for you and how much they pay to you. They ( your compnay) are here for business not for charity.
It is simple economics. Demand and supply.
If you quit they will find zillions of people of same qualification waiting to take the same for $60
Ideally , if you want to find out how much you should get/worth , put yourself in the market and do interview and try to negotiate and see what the range you are being offered . You may not take the offer but at least you will know where you stand.
Be aware full time ( with all benefits) and W2 / C2C/ consulting rate are very diffrerent and another dimension is region for different rate.
